Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Here’s a quick snow forecast because football..
It has been a cloudy and windy day in the valley, but orographic enhancement has produced over 10 inches of snow in the Cottonwood canyons since late last night

Tonight, a weak disturbance will traverse the area, bringing light liquid precipitation to the valley. Temperatures will be mild at low elevations, keeping the snow levels elevated to the benches and higher. A second system will enter the region on Monday evening, which will bring much colder weather and continued precipitation in both the valley and mountains.
These next systems will have plenty of moisture to work with, as the forecasted precipitable water will be 125% of normal for the intermountain west

Over the next 3 days, many models are forecasting 3-4 FEET of snowfall in the Cottonwoods and other Northern Utah resorts. Below is a forecast meteogram from the NAM 12 km. This model usually under-predicts snowfall, but even this forecast has 45″ for the Wasatch through Wednesday

Enjoy the snow!
