High and Dry baby

TL;DR – High pressure ridge continues to build throughout the week. No chances for snow throughout the week. A weak system could bring light snow to Northern Utah over the weekend.

Nowcast – Current conditions at the resorts are clear and stunning, with temps in the low 20’s and light winds. Temps should heat up today as the sun continues to come up. Down in the valley pollution should continue to be rather gross (see image below). Short Term – A high pressure ridge will continue to amplify throughout the week over the west coast. Models are showing a shortwave trough entering the region Thursday evening/Friday morning. This system doesn’t look like it will provide much (if any) snow, but we can always hope. It should be enough to clear some pollution out of the valley though.

Long Term – The long range models are not looking great from a snow standpoint. Both the GFS and European models are in agreement that this non-active pattern should continue for the foreseeable future. Fingers crossed something changes!
